Watch out for Smoke from Brake Pads during Dog Days

Some of you may have experienced smoke coming out of the wheel hub ofyour cars in the fierce summer heat,only to discover it was the Brake Pads.

Why does the brake pad smoke?

1.Long downhill and frequent braking cause excessive temperature and smoke.

2.The organic matter content in brake pad formula is unqualified or the manufacturing process is unstable.

3.The brake pad is not installed in place,resulting in the brake pad and disk can not be separated normally,continuous friction and high temperature somke.

4.The sliding shaft of the floating cailper of the brake sub-pump is rusty and dead. After braking, the brake pad and the disk cannot be completely separated.

5.There is a gap between the newly raplaced brake pad and the old disk,which needs a smooth run-in.If the high speed emergency braking will produce high temperature friction and smoke.

6.Part of the new brake pad steel plate has a protective layer of plastic film or kraft paper,which is not removed during assembly,resulting in smoke after high friction temperature.

7.Uneven brake disc produces partial wear,resulting in high temperature smoke on one side of friction.

Brake pad high temperature will lead to what consequences?

High temperature of brake pad is easy to produce brake heat recession.The so-called brake thermal attenuation refers to the phenomenonof brake attenuation after the intense friction between brake disc and brake pad produces high temperature.

If the brake appears thermal recession,it will be unable to provide sufficient brake friction to extend the braking distance.If the temperature exceeds the limit,it will cause brake failure,which is not conducive to driving safety.

If the heat attenuation is serious, it is best to pull over immediately and wait for the brake system to cool down for a period of time before driving.

Can the high temperature brake pad be cooled with cold water?

Note that the brake pad id high temperature friction with the brake disc,that is to say, the brake disc is also in a high temperature state,this time is not allowed to use cold water to cool down,so it is easy to make the brake disc ina high temperature state in cold crack or even burst.

At this time,we can use  the resistance of the engine at low speed to ruduce the speed as the mainmeasure,and step on the brake as the auxiliary measure to reduce the sprrd,reduce the friction time of the brake pad so as to achieve the purpose of cooling.
